Another fine Helton day!

Tied on a dropper with an egg pattern and stone fly. Given the water was muddy and a slight rain was falling I felt a bright orange egg would do. It done well all day with 11 fish caught and this nice 18 inch rainbow. Seems like there are fewer fish on rainy days but the big ones are always come out to play!

Another PIG

Rainy day today and the water was up about three feet. Just four 10-12 inch rainbows in the morning. After lunch the rain picked up, as I moved to a large pool I decided to try an eggiwaun. Great choice as I landed a 21 inch rainbow. Put up a great fight on my 4wt rod and BBS2 Orvis reel. Took about five minuets to land her as she was very wise and tried every trick in the book to include mad dashes from the net. Its hard to get a pick in the rain with such a large fish, here is the best I could do as she jumped right out of my hands after one picture.

Another beautiful day on the stream

Tempts near 70 today, sunburn on the face and over thirty fish caught, one going at 21 inches yet again. While fishing the lower portion, I noticed a large dark figure swimming by me. I first thought it was debris of some sort. In a few seconds I relized that I had a fishing partner, a large Beaver was enjoying a swim within 20 feet of me. I am not sure who scared who first, once he seen me it was a splash of the tail and he dived under only to re-surface swimming up stream next to me again. Wish I had a better picture of him.

Helton

Great day on Helton today. Between me and Carl, we caught over 30 fish. Alot of Brooke trout were apparently stocked this week. A few rainbows and nice 22 inch PIG!
On the way out we got to see the Game Warden finally catch the mexican poachers who have been snagging fish with trebble hooks... I rolled down the window and yelled, "excellent work". He smiled back and waived.

Was still very cold in the earlymorning, around 27 degrees. It later warmed up however, the water temp held at38 degrees making the fish very lazy. Only caught four today with one being a beautiful Brooke Trout, awsome colors. I also caught a Brooke that would place in the top 5 of all time ugly fish... Poor thing, look at that mouth!

Father Son trip

Me and Aron decided to take some time and go after some fish today. After 11 inches of snowfall the day prior and the high only being 22 today, the fish were very lethargic hitting on caddis larve and pink San Juan worms in the deep pools fished very slow. Aron caught a nice 14 inch rainbow and we feel its the same fish I caught pictured below. The other one we caught were both rainbows roughly 11 inches. Great day we both had, seen some nice wild turkeys too!
