The new winter coat

Forgot to add the picture of the new winter coat, yet another "Swell Guy" shot..lol Thinking handle bars near spring?

A "very cold" day

What a COLD day it was. Never seen anything over 39 but of course, I wasn't watching it to close until later in the day. I did not want to get caught on icey roads in the dark, and not in the Gorge. Roads were tight, many time I found myself backing up to let someone to pass. This road is narrow on a spring day more or less on a snow covered road. I hate I did not get a chance to really test the new Hydros or my new Slumpbusters by Wildxp. The one thing I did not take into consideration was the wind. I did however, catch 4 brook stockers, they were the only fish willing to give chase on such a cold day. I did see a few nice size ones sitting idle at the botton.

A good day regardless, just not as filling as one would like. I have 10 days off for the holiday, I have a feeling I will have time to test out both of my new items.

Tight lines... JD

Ps. Actually rather impressed with the Dodge 4X4 in the wintery mix 4WD Hi for most of the day with only two exceptions for low range. Not bad for a truck thats not a Ford..lol

Top quality flies by Austin Wildxp!

I was delighted today to have received a handful of hand tied flies from my good friend Austin Campbell who goes by Wildxp on Twitter. I had the opportunity to fish with him on a local delayed harvest stream, right away I realized he was a fly fishing guru and soon to be a good friend.

Lately I have had huge success using big flies like the slugbuster. Soon Austin's curiosity got the best of him and he tied a few up and sent some my way. He is definitely a skilled and professional tier, these flies are of the highest quality with all aspects complete.

I know now who to contact for my specialty flies, as long as he is willing to tie, I will go to him. His business friendly ethic and attention to detail shows in his work.

Next time you need some high quality flies, check him out, you'll not go wrong!

Ps. My first post from the Motorola Droid, bear with me.

Orvis Zero Gravity 4wt

First day out with the new Orvis Zero Gravity 4wt. What a sweet rod, and fast as heck! You just point this thing and it feels as if it casts itself. I must admit, it took a bit of getting use to. The Abel and Rio Gold matched up perfectly. I have had a few rods in my life and have been impressed with all types, cheap ones and ones I will never tell what I payed for (evil grin) but this one will be atop the list of my favorites. Ice in the guides today, gotta love it!

Ps. Sorry for the "swell guy" picture..lol

First Snow

What a beautiful day it was. The first snow of the year was just a few inches. Today I did not see a temperture above 31 and the evening ended with 29. Caught 9 today, all rainbow stockers no more than 12-14 inches. Slugbusters really got them agitated however, a caddis larve bouncing off the bottom done the trick. I was so busy all week, I didn't have time to sneak off to fish so today, I fished until I ran out of daylight which forced me to walk out with my headlamp! Talk about squeezing the most out of the day.

Wanted to see the 5 megapixel camera results. Not to bad for a cell phone I guess.

Testing the Droid camera.
